A Greenhouse Effect Song Video "Theme" 1992 - Clark-Hagins Music Bmi Nashville.  http://blip.tv/file/4077968  =  http://blip.tv/file/4077968
------------
52,814 Views - "Theme" is a Rare instrumental Song from G.e. that, as usual, Clark Hagins plays virtually all the instruments on. "People wonder how I played all those instruments,..well, for me it was quite easy,.....Bill Krodel would press the record button in the console room and piece by piece I would add each instrumentation part ,..with the drums "always" being first,....Once I have the drums in place,..the rest is easy" - "Theme" is such a dark classic and Hagins says that he planned it that way from the very beginning; "Originally 'Theme' had lyrics that were very melodic where I darkly growled "Play it like a Whore' ,...today,..it would be like a Batlord like song idea,...very dark and vampire-ish,....but way back then in 1992, when I heard Billy do the playback,..I was like "Oh shit,..keep it,...leave that as it is man !!!" - On the internet, "Theme Sounds great,..even better than many G.e. Vocal Driven classics like 'Brandy" and 'Misogynistia' - "Theme' was recorded in the 'final third' of 1992 along with a whole lotta other shit" Says Hagins. "Those four months of September through December 1992 were frantic recording exersizes that could get stressful at times I remember,..I wasn't sure I could do it all and pull it all off,..especially "Big Teen Dollar$" and "Addicted" and all of it's carefully laid down backing vocals n all,....and plus I was running low on money,...Marky Nathanson and Billy were letting me do a LOT of free shit,...they knew I was very talented and I am so glad to know Mark has said real rare nice things about me like "to watch Clark record alone was amazing,..the Bowie of the South Bay,.." I am very grateful to hear shit like that because rarely does anybody ever really say anything good about me,...I have to fight for every ounce of anything I can get,..I get no respect,..everybody knows that,..but as long as they dig my shit on tape or CD ,..I almost don't care,....I write melodies and i want to entertain people first and foremost,..the internet has allowed me to do that,....all that shit that they say about me in the South Bay like that I live in my own little world goes out the window when people hear my fucking shit and they realise how good that it really is." - "Theme' is a Song that Hagins would love to see used in a movie Soundtrack or ??? "I have to live in my own world,..thats where creativity is,...I don't wanna be a shallow yuppie robot like everybody else,...to me alotta people are just phonies ,....they can't write songs,...they can't even write a fucking paragraph ,...and even worse,..they can't even cry ,...they're pathetic really" - Hagins says that "Theme" really sums up his early and present Life of often solitude; "Theme is classic G.e. ,..the best shit I got really,...its purely solitude and needs no words or singing, ...its very weird,..very chilling and too dark,..its not yer average typical G.e. at all ,..I love it,..its straight from technology but also straight from the heart". 1992 would end with a tired Hagins and G.e. finally calling it quits; "It was a bummer,..I still had more killer shit to record,....shit that wasn't metal and wasn't punk,..it had no category or identity ,...and I couldn't get a fuckin' record deal in like 8 years of trying,...I was 27 years old in 92' going on 28,..and in those days 'that' meant it was over !!,.....now we just have shit Like Green Day,...the world sucks" - Without Bassist Rick Carmody, Hagins was recording virtually ALL G.E. Songs alone with just Mark Nathanson sometimes playing the bass spelling Carmody "And what a lot of people don't know is how much of the keyboards that "I" Play on these songs and 'not' Bill Krodel,.....when I look back,..its just fucking amazing,..all that,...and People think I suck (Laughs)" Says Hagins. "Nobody ever really gave a shit to listen to my music back in the day ,..except strangers who hardly knew me,...today , people hear my shit and their like "Holy Shit ,...'THIS' IS LITTLE CLARK ????,...fucking Douchebags ,...I just wasn't enough of one a' the cool surfer people I guess" (Laughs) - South Bay Reknowned Studio Recording Engineer Bill Krodel was a person that Hagins really enjoyed recording with and when he passed away in September 2008, it stunned the South bay Music community and Hagins in Particular; "Billy Krodel really knew how to get a great sound out of me,...he beefed everything up and dressed my music with very needed bells and whistles ,..he knew how and where to turn up the reverb n shit,...I had a lot of my own God-given talent but with Billy, I could not only do the abstract ,..but he helped me to make Top Ten styled hit records and songs as well Like "Brandy" and "White Black", Bill Krodel was a beautiful, funny, talented, and special person to me and the whole South bay,...He was pleasant and hillarious and off-color,..he reminded me of a true gifted genius like My dad ,...Because of Bill Krodel,..I grew and matured my sound and songs,...He helped me and many other artists get a Great Sound ,..especially guitar tones,..and he was a genius keyboardest who could play "In-A-Godda-divida" by Butterfly over n over (Laughs),...Bill Krodel's keyboards make some of my songs like "Five Years" and "Misogynistia" into hits,..I love the guy,..I wanted to record with him some more,..now I can't"
