The 'ahead of it's time anthem' has Rocked the web hard since it's cyberspace inception of 1997 / 98 when Haggins first uploaded it as an Mp3. In 2001, the Song rocketed up the charts at the then fledgling Mp3.Com where Hagins was accused of "Payola" and Mp3.Com soon shut down and went legit, taken over by the Major Labels; "Old enemies came out of the Woodwork to attack the lowly G.e. in those days" Says Haggins. "From 2001 til 2007, I was fending off People from Bam Magazine, Ben is Dead, Flipside, and the South Bay left and right ,...I am known in the music world as not a Popular dude,... I guess I'm just not Liberal enough" Says Haggans. The "White Black" Song and 1991's "Brandy" have become heavily Syndicated into internet and Search Engine culture where now in 2011, Haggans and his catchy Songs are almost inescapable on the Net; "We've been offered gigs,... We've been emailed so much,..and so many sites have embedded our Videos and urls,....we have become one of the net's signature popular things ,... but really only because of two songs" Says Haggans "People joke that the rest of our songs suck (Laughs) ,..and that we're justa two hit wonder !!" Greenhouse Effect have struggled to get a foothold with many of their other many anthems but "It Ain't Easy" has been successful along with "A Current Affair" for the cyberspace band from Redondo Beach California; "Its fun being on the web ,..and knowing that people watch us,..just like an endless concert,...we're always gigging" Says Haggins "Yet we never Leave the house (Laughs)" Haggans says its fun to upload G.e. Videos at places like Vimeo and Blip Tv where G.e. have gotten up to 14,000 plays per day routinely and also at Blip Tv; "G.e. are popular and we're fun to look at,..I would say that Weezer always wanted to be G.e. ,...Look at all the other major label bands that came after us ,..it just seems like we've been copied" Says Haggans. The Nerdy G.e. with the diminiative Haggans and Silly Looking Red Haired Bassist-Rick-Carmody get their share of double-takes on the web and G.e. videos are so good and attractive to marketers that Google Video Com doesn't dare take them down ! "We were one of the biggest early video things at Google Video com back in 2007" Says Hagins "Thats where we really took off and went to # 1 ,..right then and there !!"
